But it’s clear that ESPN is not trying to replicate Fox’s formula. If anything, ESPN is trying to replicate a formula that has worked for many years at ESPN.

Fans of sports betting must be pleased with this news. It’s the first time this network has truly focused on this popular form of gambling. Let’s take a look at why a show like this has finally arrived.
More States Legalizing Sports Betting in the US
We’ve covered the news of the DOJ ruling against PASPA extensively. In case you’re unaware, the US Department of Justice sided with New Jersey in a fight for legalized sports betting in May of 2018. They claimed that PASPA was unconstitutional and that states have the right to set their own laws on sports gambling.
This rocked the US gambling industry. Fast forward 10 months later, and eight states have completely legalized this form of gambling. A few more have pending legislation to open this market. The US began completely revamping its laws, and sports betting here is now more popular than ever.
The fact that sports betting is growing so popular around the country has to be a reason why this new ESPN gambling show is airing. There is clearly a market for information on sports odds and betting predictions. So, what exactly will this show focus on?

Updates on Online Sports Betting in the US
The government took a big step to open the legal sports betting industry last year. Unfortunately, things took a different turn when it comes to online gambling. The DOJ famously changed their stance on the Wire Act, declaring all forms of online gambling in the country illegal.
This isn’t sitting well with states currently allowing online sports betting. New Jersey earns millions every year through their legal online sports gambling market. They’ve recently warned the DOJ to change their stance or face a battle in court.
Fortunately, there are still a huge number of online sportsbooks in the US currently available. Many of these sites offer betting odds on just about every major sport including the NFL, MLB, and NBA.

It’s unclear whether or not potential lawsuits will affect the DOJ’s decision. If these issues are actually taken to court, it may be years before the DOJ has any authority to actually implement their new laws. Time will tell how this all plays out.
